A good starting pointFor children who recognise numbers 1–12. This pack introduces whole hours only. Age is a guide; choose tasks by readiness.
At a whole hour, the minute hand has a consistent position while the hour hand tells us which hour it is. These pages make that relationship the focus before adding half hours or minutes.
Every hour from 1 to 12 has its own practice page. A reusable clock mat lets your child place loose paper hands, then connect the model to drawing and digital time. The pieces can lie flat, so a working fastener is not necessary.

How to use this activity
Identify the hands
Find the longer minute hand and the shorter hour hand. At o'clock, place the long hand on 12 and the short hand on the named hour.
Read and match
Say the time aloud, then choose its digital form. Link 'three o'clock' to 3:00 without introducing minute-by-minute counting yet.
Draw what is missing
Complete the short-hand and long-hand tasks. Check lengths and positions rather than relying only on their colours.
Change the hour
Choose a time card and set the paper hands on the mat's centre dot. Try a different hour, then draw a whole-hour time on the review page.
Make it fit your child
A gentler start
Start with a familiar hour and move only the short hand while the long hand remains at 12. Read the number together.
Ready for another step?
Use a mixed time card without a model. Ask your child to set both hands, write the digital time and explain one hour before or after it.

Printing and using the pages
Download the PDF, open it in a PDF viewer and choose A4 paper at 100% or “actual size”. Print only the pages you want to use. Check the preview before printing; keep colour cues visible when a selected task depends on them.
Regular paper works for the worksheets. For reusable loose cards, light card can be easier to handle if your printer supports it. Keep any cutout pieces at the printed scale so they fit their mat. A grown-up should handle preparation and cutting.

A couple of questions
Does this include half past or quarter past?
No. The entire pack focuses on whole hours from 1:00 to 12:00.
Do I need a split pin or glue?
No. Place the round ends of the paper hands on the centre dot and turn them by hand. They can stay loose.
