Feed the Number Monsters 0–9
The monster wants a number of cookies. Can your child choose just enough?

A good starting pointFor children learning to count a chosen quantity up to nine, with grown-up support. Age is a guide; choose tasks by readiness.
Each monster asks for a different quantity, including zero. Your child chooses that many cookies from the snacks on the page, represents the quantity on a ten-frame and traces the numeral.
The activity works first as a simple circle-and-count worksheet. Optional loose snack cards let you repeat it as a feeding game without building a complicated paper mechanism. The illustration stays whole; the cards are moved towards the monster.

How to use this activity
Read the monster's request
Name the number on its belly. Ask how many cookies that means, then point to the snacks available.
Choose the right amount
Circle cookies one at a time, counting aloud. Stop at the requested quantity and leave the extras for another monster. Any choice of cookies is valid if the number is correct.
Show the same number again
Colour one ten-frame space for every chosen cookie, beginning at the top left. Compare the amount in the frame with the circled snacks.
Feed and trace
Trace the numeral. On another turn, use prepared loose snack cards and move the chosen quantity to the monster, then reset them for a new request.
Make it fit your child
A gentler start
Start with 1–3 and offer one snack card at a time. Model stopping at the target before adding tracing.
Ready for another step?
Make a deliberate mismatch between the cookies and ten-frame. Ask your child to check both quantities and explain what to change.

Printing and using the pages
Download the PDF, open it in a PDF viewer and choose A4 paper at 100% or “actual size”. Print only the pages you want to use. Check the preview before printing; keep colour cues visible when a selected task depends on them.
Regular paper works for the worksheets. For reusable loose cards, light card can be easier to handle if your printer supports it. Keep any cutout pieces at the printed scale so they fit their mat. A grown-up should handle preparation and cutting.

Must the cookie choices match the answer picture?
No. The key shows one valid choice. Any selection with the correct number of cookies is acceptable.
