A good starting pointPlay together with a grown-up. Reading and writing are not required. Age is a guide; choose tasks by readiness.
Loose paper cars make colour matching something your toddler can move and try again. Start with just red and blue garages, then bring in a third colour when the first game feels familiar.
The pack includes three separate games using a shared set of pieces. You do not need to teach them all at once. One prepared set can support a short parking game today and a listening game on another day.

How to use this activity
Prepare the pieces
Print at actual size in colour. Cut the car cards on page 3 and circles on page 5. Keep each rectangular car card whole; it does not need cutting around the car illustration.
Park matching cars
Begin with one red and one blue car on the two-colour mat. Ask for one colour and let your child move that car to its garage. Add the third garage later.
Copy the traffic lights
Look at the small example together. Place red at the top, yellow in the middle and green at the bottom. Treat this as copying an ordered colour model.
Play listening Bingo
Call 'blue' and help your child cover both blue cars with blue circles. Call red next. Clear the pieces and swap who calls the colours.
Make it fit your child
A gentler start
Offer two cards and name the colours while matching together. Accept a matching action even when your child does not yet say the colour name.
Ready for another step?
Colour a plain car red, blue or yellow, then park the car your child made. Give one colour instruction without pointing to the answer.

Printing and using the pages
Download the PDF, open it in a PDF viewer and choose A4 paper at 100% or “actual size”. Print only the pages you want to use. Use a colour printer: the colours are the main clues in these games.
Regular paper works for the worksheets. For reusable loose cards, light card can be easier to handle if your printer supports it. Keep any cutout pieces at the printed scale so they fit their mat. A grown-up should handle preparation and cutting.
These original BundleBrain pages are free for personal and classroom use. Share a link to this activity page so other families can find the instructions and download their own copy. Please do not resell or re-upload the PDF.
Good to know
A couple of questions
Will this work in black and white?
Colour is the central clue in these games, so use a colour print. The optional plain car cards are for colouring before matching.
Do I need glue or laminating?
Neither is required. The cards lie flat on the mats and can be used on ordinary paper.
